Heather Kernohan BSW, RSW
Hi! I'm Heather and I live and learn on Treaty 6 Territory. I'm married and have two young daughters that always keep me laughing and learning (and let's be honest, crying some days!) I have been a registered social worker practicing in Saskatoon for the last 16 years. Most of my career has been spent on the front lines in the areas of trauma and crisis intervention. In the last couple of years, I have shifted to clinical counselling and have found my fit. My area of interest is inner-child work and understanding the origins of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. I work with teens, adults, families and couples. I practice from a generalist-eclectic approach which is fancy language for prioritizing the therapeutic relationship and working together to explore various theories or techniques that fit for each individual's needs.
I have experience working with the following:
· Childhood trauma/inner child work
· Suicide ideation
· Stress & emotional dysregulation
· Relationship difficulties (marital, friend, colleague, sibling, parent, etc.)
· Parent/teen conflict
· Life transitions/stages of development
· Self-esteem & confidence issues
I am a registered social worker and an approved counsellor with Victim Services and Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB).
I believe connection is the key to growth and I look forward to connecting with you!
